Quality assurance in localised games is a distinct discipline from both standard game testing and standalone translation review. It requires testers who can assess linguistic quality in context, identify functional bugs introduced by localised content, and evaluate the overall player experience from the perspective of a native speaker in the target market. Our QA service covers the full spectrum: Linguistic QA (LQA), Functional QA (FQA), and specialised immersive quality auditing.
Effective game localisation QA operates across three dimensions: Linguistic QA, which assesses the accuracy, fluency, and consistency of all translated content; Functional QA, which tests the stability and correctness of the game build from a technical standpoint; and Immersive QA, which evaluates whether the localised experience is as engaging and coherent as the source game. Each pillar requires different skills and a different testing methodology.
Each of our video game QA testers is a native speaker of the relevant target language, with a background in gaming and a trained eye for the specific failure modes of localised content. They play through the game systematically, following test plans designed to cover all major content areas whilst also conducting exploratory testing for edge cases. They document issues with precision (including screenshots, bug IDs, and suggested corrections) in your preferred bug-tracking system.
We conduct QA on PC (Windows and Mac), PlayStation (PS4, PS5), Xbox (One, Series X/S), Nintendo Switch, iOS, and Android. We can test on physical hardware or development kits accessed remotely, depending on your project’s requirements and your studio’s security policies.
In-game QA covers all visible and audible localised content: on-screen text, subtitle alignment, voiced dialogue, UI strings, menu text, achievement descriptions, and loading screen copy. We check for accuracy against the approved translation, consistency with the game’s glossary, correct display (no truncation, overflow, or font issues), and correct audio synchronisation where subtitles accompany voice-over.
Platform holders (Sony, Microsoft, Nintendo) require games to pass technical and content certification before release. We provide pre-certification QA passes specifically designed to identify issues that commonly cause certification failure, including text compliance, age-rating content, and platform-specific UI requirements. This reduces the risk of certification failure and the costly delays it causes.
Clear, actionable bug reports are as important as the testing itself. We provide structured defect reports that include bug classification, severity level, reproduction steps, target language, affected build version, and a suggested fix, all formatted for direct import into your project management or bug-tracking system. We also provide summary QA reports at the end of each testing cycle.
